The League Daily starts with the first games of the season. Until then, every team section already has its pages, and the morning briefing is written every day.
How the show works
The League Daily is the network show of Hoops Nightly: one morning episode about all 30 teams, 8–11 minutes, every day of the season. It opens with the night in one line, then the three or four results that mattered and the line that decided each one, the standings picture in East and West, the injuries that change tonight, the roster moves and the reports of the day with their confidence, the number of the day from The Margin, and tonight's slate with the national television games first.
Two voices carry it, the host and the analyst: roles of the Hoops Nightly desk, not people, and they never say a figure that is not on this site. Every episode has a full transcript with clickable timestamps and chapter markers, and every number links to the page it comes from. Each of the 30 teams has its own pregame show, in its own section, with the same rules.
The shows
The League Daily is this one, in the morning, about the whole league. “Tip-Off” is the team version, and it is a pregame show: in each of the 30 team sections, an episode lands two hours before that team's tip-off, on game nights only — who plays after the league's injury report, the opponent and the matchup that decides it, the number of the day, and where to watch. On a day without a game there is no episode, and that is deliberate: the feed is worth opening because something is about to happen.
Where to listen
Every show has its own feed: each team's under “Podcast” in its section. The feeds are standard RSS with the iTunes tags, so they work in Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pocket Casts, Overcast or anything else that takes a URL. Episodes stay up for the whole season, and the page of each one carries the transcript, the chapters and the links to every figure mentioned.
The voices are synthetic, and we say so
Produced by the club's desk from the data on this site. The host and the analyst are roles, not people: no real person is portrayed, and every number in the show is on the page it links to. The words are written from the same database the pages are built on, checked against it before they are recorded — a number that is not on the site does not get said. When we are wrong, the correction goes on the corrections page and into the next episode, not quietly into the archive.
