That timeline puts him back on the floor before the preseason opener on Oct. 7 and well ahead of the Oct. 21 regular-season opener at New Orleans, but his health will be watched closely all camp. Johnny Furphy is a longer-term concern: he is out with a right knee injury and has an estimated return date of Jan. 1, 2027, meaning he is expected to miss the start of the season entirely. Furphy played 35 games last season, so his absence to open the year is a real subtraction from Indiana's wing depth.

Behind the top names, Aaron Nesmith averaged 13.8 points on 37.9% three-point shooting over 45 games last season. Jay Huff played a team-high 82 games, scoring 9.5 points per game. Ben Sheppard appeared in 65 games, averaging 7.1 points, and Jalen Slawson posted 7.3 points over 13 games. Johnny Furphy, before his current knee injury, averaged 5.1 points over 35 games last season. Those numbers are all from the 2025-26 season and describe where each player left off, not where they stand now. With training camp underway and the opener still weeks away, this group's first real test comes in the preseason slate starting Oct. 7 against Minnesota.
