Celtics Open 2026-27 Missing Brown and Vučević, Watching Tatum's Knee

Tatum is day-to-day with a left knee issue and has an estimated return date of October 1, 2026, well before the regular-season opener. Boston's preseason games run through October 16, and the Celtics open the regular season October 20 at Detroit on NBC/Peacock.
The Roster Without Brown and Vučević
Jaylen Brown is gone to the 76ers and Nikola Vučević has moved on to the Magic, so Boston opens 2026-27 with a different look. Jayson Tatum, 28 and entering his ninth season, is still the centerpiece alongside Derrick White, also in his ninth year, and Payton Pritchard, in his sixth. Paul George, 36, and Mike Conley, 38 and in his 19th season, add veteran depth. Mitchell Robinson and Neemias Queta split center duties, with Luka Garza behind them. Sam Hauser and Baylor Scheierman return on the wing, and Jordan Walsh, Hugo González and Ron Harper Jr. round out a young core. Tatum's Knee Is the Injury Watch
The one injury note in Boston's report is Jayson Tatum, listed day-to-day with a left knee issue. His estimated return date is October 1, 2026, which gives him time before the preseason slate begins October 8 at Cleveland.
