Jazz Head Into 2026-27 With a Reshaped Roster and No Games Played Yet
newsroom · 2 h agoUtah sits at 0-0 with the regular season still weeks away, opening October 21 at Memphis after a three-game preseason slate. The roster looks different after four departures, and two players are already on the injury report with the same estimated return date of October 1.
Where Things Stand
The Jazz are 0-0. The 2026-27 season has not started, so there is no streak and no seed to report yet. Utah plays three preseason games first: October 6 against Denver, October 12 against San Antonio, and October 16 at Phoenix. The regular-season opener is October 21 at Memphis, followed by a home game against New Orleans on October 23. The full slate runs 80 games, with 8 of them on national television. Everything right now is about the roster taking shape and the health of a couple of key names before the games start counting.
Roster Turnover
Utah's roster carries some new names into training camp. Jaren Jackson Jr., Kevin Love, Jusuf Nurkić, Jaxson Hayes, Josh Green, Josh Okogie, Mo Bamba, Svi Mykhailiuk, and rookies Darryn Peterson, Tamar Bates, Hayden Gray, and Blake Hinson are all listed on the current roster. At the same time, four players who were with the team last season are gone: Walker Kessler is now with the Lakers, Cody Williams is with the Timberwolves, Elijah Harkless is with the Pistons, and Oscar Tshiebwe is with the Rockets. Lauri Markkanen, Keyonte George, Ace Bailey, Isaiah Collier, Brice Sensabaugh, and Kyle Filipowski remain from last year's group, giving the Jazz a mix of holdovers and new veterans.
Injury Report
Two players are already banged up before the opener. Trey Alexander is day-to-day with a rib injury on his torso, left side, with an estimated return of October 1. Jaren Jackson Jr. is day-to-day with a left knee injury, also with an estimated return of October 1. Both timelines point to the two being available, or close to it, before the preseason opener against Denver on October 6. No other players appear on the injury report at this point.

Keyonte George played 54 games at 23.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.1 assists, shooting 37.1 percent from deep. Jaren Jackson Jr. put up 19.4 points and 5.7 rebounds in 48 games last season, before his move to Utah. Ace Bailey played 72 games as a rookie, averaging 13.8 points and 4.2 rebounds. Jusuf Nurkić averaged a team-high 10.4 rebounds to go with 10.9 points and 4.8 assists. Brice Sensabaugh added 14.9 points in 75 games, and Kyle Filipowski chipped in 11.4 points and 7.2 rebounds across 77 games. Isaiah Collier ran the second unit with 7.2 assists per game.
What's Ahead
Utah's path to opening night runs through three preseason tune-ups: Denver at home October 6, San Antonio at home October 12, and Phoenix on the road October 16. The regular season then opens October 21 at Memphis, with the home opener against New Orleans two days later on October 23.
