Pistons Open 2026-27 Off a 60-Win Season, Opener vs. Celtics on National TV

The core of Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren and Ausar Thompson returns, while Tobias Harris, Isaiah Stewart, Caris LeVert and Marcus Sasser are gone. The regular season opens October 20 at home against Boston on NBC/Peacock.
Where things stand
The Pistons are 0-0 with the 2026-27 season not yet underway. Detroit comes off a 60-22 finish last season, one of the best marks in franchise recent memory, and the front office kept the top of the roster intact while trimming pieces from that group. There is no current injury report to speak of heading into camp. The next step is preseason, four games in October against Phoenix, Washington, Minnesota and Toronto, before the regular season opener on October 20 against Boston at Little Caesars Arena, a game airing on NBC and Peacock. The core: Cunningham and Duren
Cade Cunningham is the engine of this roster. Who's gone
Detroit's roster looks different from the one that won 60 games last season. Tobias Harris is now with the Spurs. Isaiah Stewart is now with the Grizzlies. Caris LeVert is now with the Bucks. Marcus Sasser is now with the Mavericks. All four were part of last season's rotation and none of them appear on the 2026-27 roster. That leaves Detroit to replace their minutes from within the roster that remains, along with the newcomers on the depth chart, including two rookies, Ebuka Okorie and Ugonna Onyenso.
The supporting cast
Beyond the top three, Detroit's roster last season carried real scoring depth. Duncan Robinson played 77 games at 27.4 minutes, averaging 12.2 points on 41.0 percent from three, with a plus-7.0 net rating. John Collins appeared in 69 games, averaging 13.6 points and 5.3 rebounds on 40.6 percent from three. Kevin Huerter played 69 games averaging 10.0 points, and Isaiah Joe averaged 11.1 points on 42.3 percent shooting from deep across 71 games. Taurean Prince, in 26 games, shot 43.6 percent from three. Daniss Jenkins averaged 9.3 points and 3.9 assists over 72 games. All of these players remain on the roster for 2026-27, alongside Gary Harris, Paul Reed, Ronald Holland II, Wendell Moore Jr., Chaz Lanier, Elijah Harkless, Isaac Jones, Javonte Green and Tolu Smith.

Detroit's 60-22 record last season came with strong efficiency marks across the board. The team posted a 117.3 offensive rating against a 108.9 defensive rating, a net rating of plus-8.4.
