Bucks Enter Post-Giannis Era: New-Look Roster Opens 2026-27 at Washington

Milwaukee's roster is now built around Tyler Herro, Myles Turner, Kyle Kuzma, Ryan Rollins and Kevin Porter Jr., with the regular season opener set for October 21 at Washington. Kevin Porter Jr. is the only name on the injury report, listed day-to-day with a right knee issue.
Offseason Shakeup
The Bucks head into 2026-27 without Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is now with the Heat. Milwaukee also lost Bobby Portis Jr. (Heat), Taurean Prince (Pistons) and Gary Harris (Pistons) since last season. That is four rotation pieces gone from a team that finished 32-50 a year ago. The roster now built around veterans in new colors: Tyler Herro, Myles Turner, Kyle Kuzma, Caris LeVert and Kevin Porter Jr. lead a mostly reshaped group. Milwaukee still plays out of Fiserv Forum in the East's Central Division. The record sits at 0-0 with the opener still weeks away, so training camp and the preseason schedule are the only games on the board right now.
New-Look Roster
Herro, Turner and Kuzma are the headline veterans on the new roster, joined by Ryan Rollins, AJ Green, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Gary Trent Jr., Caris LeVert and Kevin Porter Jr. Rounding out the group are Ousmane Dieng, Kasparas Jakučionis, Cormac Ryan, Kam Jones, Pete Nance, John Butler Jr., Jericho Sims and rookies Bogoljub Marković, Brayden Burries, Malique Lewis and Nate Ament. That is a mix of established scorers and unproven youth. Rollins, 24, and Green, 26, are among the more experienced holdovers on paper. Turner, 30, is the elder statesman at center, with 11 years of experience listed on the roster. The bulk of the group is in its 20s, giving Milwaukee a younger overall look than in recent seasons.
What Last Season Showed
As a team last season, Milwaukee went 32-50 with a 112.2 offensive rating, a 118.3 defensive rating and a net rating of -6.1. The pace was 98.3 possessions, effective field goal percentage 56.5, true shooting 58.9, and the team averaged 110.6 points per game. Individually, last season's top scorers included Kevin Porter Jr. (17.4 pts, 7.4 ast in 38 games), Ryan Rollins (17.3 pts, 5.6 ast in 74 games) and Tyler Herro (20.5 pts in 33 games). Myles Turner averaged 11.9 points and 5.3 rebounds, Kyle Kuzma put up 13.0 points and 4.5 rebounds, and Kel'el Ware posted 11.1 points and 9.0 rebounds. AJ Green shot 41.9 percent from three, the best mark of the group.
Health Watch
The only name on the injury report right now is Kevin Porter Jr., listed day-to-day with a right knee and leg issue. His estimated return date is October 1, 2026, which would put him back before Milwaukee's regular season opener on October 21 at Washington. Everyone else on the roster carries no injury designation heading into camp. Porter Jr. was one of last season's most productive playmakers on a per-minute basis, averaging 7.4 assists in only 33.2 minutes, so his health matters for how the offense is run early in the year.
Preseason Slate and the Opener
Milwaukee's preseason schedule opens October 5 at home against Minnesota, followed by trips to Oklahoma City on October 7, Charlotte on October 11 and Indiana on October 16, with a home game against Chicago on October 14 in between. Those five exhibition games are the only tune-up before the games start counting. The regular season opener is set for October 21 at Washington, the first of 80 scheduled games this season. An Eastern Conference notes roundup dated September 5 grouped Milwaukee's minicamp activity alongside separate items on Knicks extension candidates, a figure identified only as Brink, and the Pacers roster. The roundup did not include specific details on what happened at the Bucks' minicamp, only that it was mentioned alongside those other stories. Nothing concrete has surfaced about further trades or signings beyond the roster already in place. For a team that already lost Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bobby Portis Jr., Taurean Prince and Gary Harris since last season, any additional roster news is worth watching, but as of September 5 there is nothing beyond the minicamp mention to report.
