Deadline questions

All key dates

When is the 2027 NBA trade deadline?

Thursday, February 11, 2027, at 3 p.m. Eastern. A trade has to be agreed and reported to the league by then.

When does the trade deadline end?

At 3 p.m. ET on the day itself, 12 p.m. on the West Coast. Teams can then make no more trades until the NBA Finals are over.

What can teams still do after the deadline?

They can still sign free agents and waive players. A player has to be waived by March 1 to be eligible for another team's playoff roster, which is why the buyout market runs until then.

Why does the second apron matter at the deadline?

A team above the second apron cannot combine player salaries in a trade or take back more salary than it sends out, so its options are narrower. The board above marks those teams.
