Wiggins on the Clock

Locked On Hawks' Brad Rowland reported that Wiggins has a left knee contusion and is questionable, while Jock Landale is available after a nasal fracture. Rowland also listed Mouhamed Gueye, with a left foot fracture, and Henri Veesaar, with a torn right ACL, as out. Wiggins gave Atlanta 12 points in 27 minutes off the bench Monday, so losing him would thin a second unit that already struggled.

Miami Arrives Winless

Erik Spoelstra's Heat come in on a four-game skid. Giannis Antetokounmpo has carried them at 28.5 points and 9.5 boards a night across those four games, with Davion Mitchell setting up 7.0 assists. Simone Fontecchio, with an illness, and Pelle Larsson, with a right ankle, are both day-to-day. Then comes the back half: Cleveland visits Thursday on NBA TV, before road stops in New Orleans on October 31, Indiana on November 2 and Washington on November 4.

Where Houston Got Away

Atlanta led 66-63 at the half Monday and then scored 19 in the third. By Rowland's count the Hawks went 8-33 beyond the arc and had an 88 offensive rating after halftime. The bench managed 37 points while Luguentz Dort and Landale each finished at minus-17, and Dort went 0-5 from deep. Jalen Johnson still got to the line, making 10 of 12. The open question is whether the second unit can hold its minutes across two nights in two days, especially if Wiggins sits.
