He is targeting an Oct. 15 return, which would keep him out for Atlanta's Oct. 5 season opener against the Grizzlies.

What happened

Gueye's designation changed to day-to-day on the Hawks' injury report Sunday, Sept. 6 at 4:32 a.m. ET, with no previous status listed. The report describes the injury as a left foot and leg issue. Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports that Gueye had surgery Tuesday to repair a fractured left foot, an injury he suffered during a workout last week. The Hawks are targeting an Oct. 15 return for the 23-year-old forward.

Atlanta opens the season Oct. 5 against the Grizzlies at 7 p.m. ET without Gueye available, and he is unlikely to be ready before Oct. 15.
