Houston Arrives Unbeaten but Without Sengun, and Jaquez Clears His Ankle

The 1-3 Bucks host a 4-0 Rockets team missing two big men, with 10th place half a game away.

Houston comes to Fiserv Forum tonight at 4-0, with Alperen Sengun and Steven Adams ruled out and Marcus Smart day-to-day. Milwaukee is 1-3 after Monday's 110-102 win over Indiana, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Jaquez was left off the first injury report after tweaking an ankle in that game.

October 21-24

The season opened with three losses: 116-128 at Washington, 125-132 at home to Chicago and 116-127 at Philadelphia. Herro scored 34 against the Bulls, and Jaquez led the way in Philadelphia with 21. The scoring kept coming from the same two players, and the defense kept giving it back. By October 25, Milwaukee was 15th of 15 in the conference.

October 26

The first win came against the Pacers, the club that ended Milwaukee's playoff runs in 2023-24 and 2024-25, by a 110-102 score. Herro had 23 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, Ryan Rollins added 19, and Pascal Siakam's 20 points and 13 boards for Indiana were not enough. With Myles Turner now in green, it was a fitting opponent for win number one.

October 27

Jenkins ran a walkthrough-type practice. Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the coach said Jaquez tweaked an ankle against Indiana but appeared OK, and Owczarski later noted that Jaquez was not on the first injury report for Houston. The standings moved too: Milwaukee climbed from 14th to 12th, and the power rankings had it at 21st, up from 25th a week earlier.

Tonight

Houston brings a four-game winning streak and Kevin Durant, but Sengun (back) and Adams (calf) are out and Smart (forearm) is day-to-day. That leaves Houston two big men short, a chance for Turner, Kel'el Ware and Jericho Sims to own the paint. Sims has been playing 28.9 minutes a night lately, a sign of how much Jenkins is leaning on size.

October 31

Cleveland, holding sixth place at 2-1, visits Saturday, followed by road dates at Minnesota on November 2 and Boston on November 4. Milwaukee sits 1.5 games behind the Cavaliers and half a game behind 10th-place Orlando. The open question is whether a roster assembled in June can turn one win into a run before that road swing.

Next Saturday, October 31: Cleveland, holding sixth place in the East at 2-1, comes to Fiserv Forum.
Is Jaquez playing for the Bucks against the Rockets tonight?

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that he was not on the Bucks' first injury report for Houston. Jenkins had said Jaquez tweaked an ankle Monday against Indiana but appeared OK.

Is Alperen Sengun playing against the Bucks?

No. Sengun is out with a back injury and Steven Adams is out with a calf injury, while Marcus Smart is day-to-day with a forearm issue.
