Denver's Porter Jr. Interest Is Real. The Cap Sheet Is the Hard Part
The only trade report tied to Denver is about a deal that was rejected, and a $217.8 million payroll means the help has to come from wings already on the roster.
Milwaukee declined a possible Porter Jr. deal with Denver, according to an October 24 Hoops Rumors item, and RealGM wrote October 27 that the Kings and Nuggets could have interest in him. Neither report describes terms, and the payroll and pick list leave Denver little to build a deal with.

What has actually been reported?
There is one story, told twice. On October 24, Hoops Rumors carried word that the Bucks rejected a potential Porter Jr. trade with Denver. It carries a confidence score of 42 and is still open. Three days later RealGM wrote that the Kings and Nuggets could have interest in him. So the sequence is interest, a refusal, then interest again. No one has described terms, a counteroffer or another trade partner. The fair reading is that talks took place and ended.
Which reports have held up?
The routine roster moves. Lonnie Walker IV's waiver, scored 45, is confirmed, and he has since signed with Besiktas. Ryan Nembhard's two-way deal, scored 20, held up: he is on the roster and hit a pull-up jumper in the last minute against Golden State. The October 17 report that Julian Strawther would miss at least six weeks with a knee sprain, scored 33, matches an injury listing that projects his return for November 29. The low scores turned out to be reliable. The trade item has the higher score and the least detail.
Does the cap sheet allow it?
Only just, if at all. Payroll stands at $217.8 million, above the first apron and well past the $200.4 million tax line, with the second apron at $221.7 million. Five contracts, from Jokic's $59.0 million down to Braun's $21.6 million, make up most of that total. The draft picks offer little to sweeten a deal: the 2028, 2029 and 2030 first-rounders are protected to Oklahoma City, and the 2027 second-rounder is owed to Utah. Any incoming salary has to fit under a ceiling that is already close, and the one known attempt ended with a no.
Where the real help is
In the trainer's room. Cameron Johnson's ankle and Spencer Jones's hamstring both carry an estimated return of October 28, the game at New Orleans, and Alpha Diallo came off the out list this week. Against the Warriors, Bryce Hopkins played 31 minutes at -21, and the bench scored 34 points in a 134-114 loss. The group of Jokic, Murray, Braun, Gordon and Johnson was +13.5 in 2025-26. A trade brings in one new player who has to learn where Jokic's passes arrive. Johnson's return restores a connection the team already has. Denver should run out of patience before it starts spending picks.
Are the Nuggets trading for Porter Jr.?
No deal has been reported. Hoops Rumors said October 24 that the Bucks turned down a potential trade with Denver, and RealGM wrote October 27 that the Nuggets could still have interest.
When will Cameron Johnson return for the Nuggets?
His right ankle injury carries an estimated return of October 28, the game at New Orleans. Spencer Jones has the same estimate for his hamstring.
