Jake LaRavia was cleared on the Lakers' injury report Saturday night after being listed Day-To-Day. He is no longer carrying an injury designation going into Sunday's game at Utah.
What happened
The Lakers forward was moved to Cleared on the official injury report at 7:38 PM ET on Saturday, Oct. 24. His previous status was Day-To-Day. The report gave no detail and no comment with the update. LaRavia's week on the report was busy. He was first listed Day-To-Day on Thursday, Oct. 22, with a right ankle issue. He went to Out on Friday, then back to Day-To-Day on Saturday before the clearance. No return date was needed or announced, because the report no longer lists him with an injury.
What it means for the Lakers
The Lakers play at the Jazz on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 5:00 PM ET. They arrive 2-0, on a two-game winning streak and holding the top seed. LaRavia has played one game this season. He averaged 17.9 minutes, 10.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Last season he played 82 games at 25.1 minutes, 8.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists. The Lakers are 1-0 with him and 1-0 without him. In the game he missed, the minutes went to Austin Reaves (35.2), Luka Doncic (33.4), Walker Kessler (32.4), Quentin Grimes (29.1) and Ziaire Williams (27.4). Matisse Thybulle (23.6), Sandro Mamukelashvili (22.9) and Collin Sexton (16.1) filled the rest. Adou Thiero and Cameron Carr remain out.
What to watch
The next injury report update will show whether LaRavia carries any new designation before Sunday's tip-off at Utah. Because he is cleared, the thing to watch is his minutes. He played 17.9 per game in his one appearance this season, well below last season's 25.1. Coaches have not announced a role for him. The Lakers' rotation without him leaned on eight players, so his return could shift time for Williams, Thybulle or Mamukelashvili. Thiero and Carr stay out for now.
