The Hawks moved center Jock Landale from out to day-to-day on Thursday with a left hip strain. His expected return is Friday, Nov. 6, the date of the Wizards game.
What happened
Atlanta upgraded Landale from out to day-to-day in the injury report posted Thursday, Nov. 5, at 10:11 a.m. ET. The injury is listed as a left hip strain. Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reported that Landale was out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards with the strain. His status has moved back and forth. He was listed out on Oct. 31. He went to day-to-day and back to out on Nov. 1, then did the same on Nov. 3. The report lists his expected return as Nov. 6.
What it means for the Hawks
The Hawks host the Wizards on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7:00 p.m. ET. They are 5-4, hold the No. 4 seed and have won two straight. Landale, a 31-year-old center, is a rotation piece. Last season he averaged 6.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 15.3 minutes over seven games. Atlanta is 3-4 with him and 2-0 without him. In those two games, Onyeka Okongwu played 29.1 minutes and Jalen Johnson played 32.6. Dyson Daniels played 29.6 and Kingston Flemings played 20.7. Johnson is also day-to-day, with a left ankle issue.
What to watch
The next update will come in the injury report before Friday's game against the Wizards. The report lists Nov. 6 as his expected return. The Hawks have not announced a game-day status. Because Landale has flipped between out and day-to-day twice since Oct. 31, his status could change again before tip-off. Johnson's ankle and the status of Asa Newell, who is day-to-day with a left toe issue, also bear on the Hawks' frontcourt depth.
