Brandon Miller was ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Nets with a leg injury, a new issue with no return timeline attached before now. The Hornets will lean further on Kon Knueppel, Miles Bridges and LaMelo Ball to cover his scoring and minutes.
What happened
Brandon Miller was listed out on the Tuesday, Oct. 6 injury report, issued at 5:31 p.m. ET, with a leg injury and no previous status attached to it. The setback follows a separate left shoulder issue that had him day to day starting Sept. 6 before he was cleared on Sept. 28. Hornets general manager Jeff Peterson said Monday that Miller was expected to take part in training camp and be ready for the start of the regular season, Hunter Bailey of the HWY 49 Podcast reported. The injury report lists an expected return date of Oct. 11 for the leg injury.
What it means for the Hornets
Miller will sit out Tuesday's game against the Nets, which tips off at 7 p.m. ET on NBA TV, with Charlotte at 0-0 since the 2026-27 season has not started. Last season he averaged 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 30.3 minutes across 65 games, production the Hornets now have to cover elsewhere. Kon Knueppel (31.5 minutes, 18.5 points), Miles Bridges (31.0 minutes, 17.1 points) and LaMelo Ball (28.0 minutes, 20.1 points) have taken on the heaviest loads without him, with Collin Sexton (22.3 minutes, 14.2 points) also getting extended run. There is no with-or-without record to point to, since no regular-season games have been played yet.
What to watch
The injury report lists Oct. 11 as Miller's expected return date for the leg injury, and Charlotte will update his status on injury reports as that date approaches. He is listed separately from a group of teammates also marked day to day on Tuesday's report: Coby White, Kon Knueppel, Grant Williams, Kylan Boswell and PJ Hall. That volume of day-to-day tags means the Hornets' rotation could keep shifting into the start of the regular season.
