Bradley Beal remains out with a right knee injury, and NBA writer Justin Russo reports he will not be ready for the start of the regular season. He will miss Friday's game at the Lakers, and the injury report lists an expected return of Nov. 8.

What happened

Bradley Beal remains out for the Clippers with a right knee injury. The injury report issued Thursday, Oct. 22, at 8:57 p.m. ET listed him as out, the same status he had on the previous report. He has been out since Oct. 14, when he moved from day-to-day. He was day-to-day with the knee on Sept. 28. On Sept. 6 he was day-to-day with a left hip issue. The report's comment cites NBA writer Justin Russo, who reports that Beal will not be ready for the start of the regular season.

What it means for the Clippers

The Clippers play at the Lakers on Friday, Oct. 23, at 10 p.m. ET. They are 1-0, won their opener and sit as the No. 2 seed. They have not played a game with Beal this season and are 1-0 without him. Last season he played six games and averaged 8.2 points, 0.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 20.2 minutes. In the opener, Darius Garland scored 30 points in 32.1 minutes. Keaton Wagler added 15 in 28.9 minutes, and Kris Dunn played 26.9 minutes. Gradey Dick scored 12 in 18.9 minutes, and Kobe Sanders played 18.7. Max Strus, Brandon Ingram, Yanic Konan Niederhauser and Jordan Miller are also out.

What to watch

The next injury report before Friday's game at the Lakers will show whether his status has changed. The report lists an expected return of Sunday, Nov. 8. Until then, watch for any move from out to day-to-day. That would be the first sign he is getting close. The Clippers also have four other players out, so the backcourt minutes will keep going to Garland, Wagler, Dunn, Dick and Sanders while Beal is out.

Is Bradley Beal playing at the Lakers on Friday?

No. Beal is listed as out with a right knee injury for Friday's game at the Lakers, which tips at 10 p.m. ET.

When will Bradley Beal be back?

The injury report lists an expected return of Nov. 8. NBA writer Justin Russo reports that Beal will not be ready for the start of the regular season.
