Thunder Rookie Otega Oweh Out for the Season After Achilles Surgery
Otega Oweh had surgery on his right Achilles on Wednesday and will miss the rest of the 2026-27 season, Brandon Rahbar of DailyThunder.com reports. The rookie guard out of Kentucky had been dealing with lower leg soreness for weeks before the tear was discovered. Oklahoma City now has to plan the rotation at guard without him for the entire year.

Oweh's leg trouble did not come out of nowhere. He was day-to-day with a left lower leg issue back on September 6, got cleared on October 5, then was tagged day-to-day again on October 14 with a right lower leg problem. One day later, on October 15, that diagnosis turned into a right Achilles injury serious enough for surgery, and the Thunder now list him out for the rest of 2026-27. Rahbar's report confirms the procedure happened on a Wednesday.
