The Chicago Sun-Times and ESPN framed the 124-120 loss to Washington as a lesson. The roster and injury facts support part of that and leave the rest unanswered.

Tough love, checked. The Chicago Sun-Times' Joe Cowley framed the Wizards loss as tough love lessons still being learned. The facts fit. Chicago trailed by 21, scored 38 in the fourth and lost anyway. Isaac Okoro was minus-21 in 14 minutes. The bench produced 28 points to 92 from the starters.

Young's night, Wilson's miss. ESPN led its recap with Trae Young's 25 points as the Wizards held off Wilson and the Bulls. The box score agrees: Young hit all nine free throws and had nine assists. Wilson had 30 and 14, then missed a 25-foot pullup bank three with eight seconds left, down 120-115.

The clutch rookie label. After Milwaukee, Cowley wrote that Wilson is far from the usual rookie in the clutch. Two games later the label is half supported. He closed the Wizards game on the floor and led all scorers with 30. He also shot 1-of-9 from three. Clutch is a habit, not a headline.

Essengue and the doghouse. Cowley reported Noa Essengue was back on the bench but out of the doghouse. Nothing we have explains a doghouse. The injury list says head issue, out October 24, day-to-day October 25, estimated return October 26. Chicago exercised his 2027/28 option October 20.

Cheering at Williams' expense. Pippen Ain't Easy's Andrew Hanlon wrote October 22 that Tiago Splitter gave fans a reason to cheer at Patrick Williams' expense. Nothing we have says what Splitter did. Williams went from out to day-to-day with a right groin issue October 25, estimated return October 26.

Swain and the G League. Cowley reported the Bulls are working on a plan for rookie Dailyn Swain that involves the G League. We cannot confirm the details. We can confirm Swain went 15th in the draft, missed time with an illness around October 20-21 and was cleared October 23.

On deck The Bulls visit the Celtics Monday, October 26, then host the Knicks October 28 and return to Boston October 30. Boston is 1-1, with Devin Carter out with an illness.
Is Noa Essengue injured?

Who do the Bulls play next?
