Was LeBron James really coming back to Cleveland?

Hoops Rumors reported on October 23 that the Cavaliers were in "consideration" for James during free agency. At a confidence score of 47 and still open, it rates highest of anything reported this month, and it still only says Cleveland was on a list. Nothing in the report says talks got close or that an offer existed. Read it as a footnote to the summer, not a door left open.

Could the Cavs even afford a move like that?

No. The payroll is $209.0M, which is $8.6M over the $200.4M tax threshold and level with the first apron, against a $165.0M cap. Mitchell and Mobley take $50.1M each, Harden $30.6M, Allen $28.0M and Watson $20.5M. Every first-round pick through 2029 is a swap, and the seconds from 2027 through 2030 are owed to other teams. Any addition means matching salary while having almost no picks to sweeten a deal.

Should anyone worry about Donovan Mitchell's future?

Not on this evidence. On October 21 Hoops Rumors carried his line "I Don't Ever Want To Wear Another Uniform," with a confidence score of 37 and an open status. Saying he wants to stay is not a contract, but it is the opposite of a trade demand. He is scoring 26.7 a game through three games and shooting 47.4 percent from three. Nothing reported points anywhere but Cleveland.

What happened with Tomlin and all the roster cuts?

Hoops Rumors reported on October 20 that Nae'Qwan Tomlin would miss at least three to four weeks with a back injury. Two days later he was listed as cleared, so events have already overtaken that report. The October 17 item on Exhibit 10 waivers and the October 12 minor moves are housekeeping. The camp deals for Jaxson Robinson and Noam Yaacov were confirmed via Paul Garcia, and both players have since left. The roster stands at 17.

Is the Jaylon Tyson news real or just a rumor?

Hoops Rumors reported on October 20 that Cleveland picked up Tyson's option for a fourth season. It carries a confidence score of 36 and is still marked open, so treat it as reported. If it holds, Cleveland keeps a 23-year-old who is averaging 9.7 points and 3.7 assists in 21.6 minutes through three games. His 20.0 percent from three is the part he has to fix.

The verdictThe only report with real weight is the LeBron item, and it covers a summer that is over, with no cap room to act on it. The rest is a player's quote, routine roster moves, or reports that later news has already overtaken.
Are the Cavaliers trying to sign LeBron James?

Hoops Rumors reported only that Cleveland was in consideration for him during free agency. Nothing suggests talks advanced, and a $209.0M payroll at the first apron leaves no room.

Is Nae'Qwan Tomlin still injured?

A report on October 20 said his back would keep him out at least three to four weeks. He was listed as cleared on October 22.
