Hoops Rumors reported Thursday that the lack of a traditional point guard is frustrating people inside the Suns. Phoenix is 1-2 and 11th in the West, and it hosts Denver tonight in the Emirates NBA Cup.
The gripe goes public. Hoops Rumors and Arizona Sports both reported frustration in the locker room over the lack of a point guard. Bright Side of the Sun reported that the frustration is growing. The reports come after one win in three games and a drop from 10th to 11th in the West.
Answers already in house. Collin Gillespie and Jordan Goodwin are the in-house options. Bright Side of the Sun praised Goodwin for playing the kind of basketball the Suns want. The same outlet also looked at Dejounte Murray as a possible trade target, but that is an idea from the outlet, not a reported negotiation.
Ighodaro's oblique. Oso Ighodaro has gone back and forth between out and day-to-day since October 24, and his target return is tonight. Arizona Sports reported that he was upgraded to questionable. Mark Williams is not expected back before February 3, so Ighodaro and Khaman Maluach are the bodies Phoenix has for Nikola Jokic.
Denver arrives shorthanded. The Nuggets are 2-2. Tonight is their second straight road game, and they come in on one day of rest while Phoenix has had three. Cameron Johnson, Alpha Diallo, Julian Strawther and Spencer Jones are listed out. Arizona Sports reported Johnson as questionable for his return to Phoenix.
Heat check: 43. Devin Booker scored 43 points against Golden State on October 24, in the only Suns win so far. In the two road losses, Portland scored 124 and Oklahoma City scored 125. Booker can win a night on his own, but not when the defense gives up that much.
The open question. Does Jordan Ott keep the ball in the same hands or give Gillespie or Goodwin more of it? Tonight starts four games in seven days. Phoenix is a game back of sixth-place San Antonio and even with 10th-place Golden State.
When do the Suns play the Nuggets?
Tonight, October 30, in Phoenix. It is an Emirates NBA Cup game.
Will Oso Ighodaro play against Denver?
He is listed as day-to-day because of his oblique, and his target return is tonight. Arizona Sports reported that he was upgraded to questionable.
