Utah Jazz guard Darryn Peterson was upgraded to cleared on the injury report Wednesday night after being listed day-to-day with a head issue earlier in the day. The move takes the 19-year-old off a Jazz injury list that still has Lauri Markkanen, Jaren Jackson Jr., Jusuf Nurkic and Trey Alexander out.

What happened

Peterson was listed as cleared on the official injury report at 10:06 PM ET on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Earlier that day the report had him day-to-day with a head issue. That was his only listing before the upgrade. The report gave no further detail on the injury and had no comment with the change. The update came after the 9:00 PM ET tip of Utah's home game against the Spurs. A return date was not announced, and with the cleared status none was needed. Peterson is a 19-year-old guard.

What it means for the Jazz

Utah is 1-3, 13th in the conference, and has lost two straight. Peterson has played in all four games. He averages 11.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 29.4 minutes. The Jazz are 1-3 with him and have not played a game without him. Getting him back matters more because of who is still out. Markkanen (right wrist), Jackson (right knee), Nurkic (right foot) and Alexander (left knee) are all out. Without Markkanen and Jackson, the rotation leans on Keyonte George (31.8 minutes, 22.8 points), Mo Bamba (28.6, 14.0), Ace Bailey (27.3, 13.0), Jaxson Hayes (23.7, 10.3) and Isaiah Collier (16.9, 7.5).

What to watch

The cleared status means Peterson should drop off the injury report unless something changes. The timing of the next report has not been announced. The bigger question for Utah is the four players still out. No return dates have been announced for Markkanen, Jackson, Nurkic or Alexander. Until they come back, Peterson and George have to carry the backcourt for a team trying to stop a two-game skid. The game after the Spurs has not been announced.

Is Darryn Peterson playing vs the Spurs?

He was cleared on the injury report at 10:06 PM ET on Wednesday, Oct. 28, after the 9:00 PM ET tip against the Spurs. He had been listed day-to-day with a head issue earlier that day. Whether he played in that game has not been announced.

When will Darryn Peterson be back?

He has been cleared, so he is available. He was upgraded from day-to-day with a head issue on Wednesday night.
