Ja Morant has been downgraded from day-to-day to out with a left hamstring injury after leaving Thursday's game against the Grizzlies. The Trail Blazers will be without him when they visit the Jazz on Saturday, and the injury report lists his expected return as Dec. 1.

What happened

Ja Morant is out with a left hamstring injury, according to the official injury report filed Friday, Oct. 30 at 2:52 PM ET. He was listed as day-to-day with the same injury earlier Friday. The 27-year-old guard left Thursday's game against the Grizzlies and did not return. The report's note says he finished with 14 points on 6-of-14 shooting, including 2 of 5 from three, with two rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes. This is his second injury listing since September. A left elbow issue made him day-to-day on Sept. 6, and he was cleared on Sept. 28.

What it means for the Trail Blazers

Portland plays at Utah on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 3:00 PM ET. The Trail Blazers are 3-1, fifth in the standings, and lost their last game. All four games so far came with Morant, so they have not played without him yet. Through those four games he averaged 15.8 points, 5.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 25.9 minutes. Damian Lillard (29.6 minutes, 18.5 points), Jrue Holiday (25.2, 12.0) and Scoot Henderson (18.8, 7.5) are the guards in line to take his minutes. Deni Avdija leads the rotation at 31.6 minutes and 22.8 points. The injury list is long. Robert Williams III is day-to-day with a left knee issue, and Shaedon Sharpe (right knee) and Chris Youngblood (left ankle) are out.

What to watch

The injury report lists Morant's expected return as Dec. 1, about a month away. No other timeline has been announced. Before Saturday's game in Utah, watch Robert Williams III's status. He is day-to-day and averages 18.1 minutes in the rotation. Until Morant comes back, the backcourt minutes go to Lillard, Holiday and Henderson. Each new injury report will show whether his Dec. 1 date holds.

Is Ja Morant playing at the Jazz on Saturday, Oct. 31?

No. Morant is listed as out with a left hamstring injury on the official injury report, so he will miss Saturday's 3:00 PM ET game in Utah.

When will Ja Morant be back?

The official injury report lists his expected return as Dec. 1, 2026. No other timeline has been announced.
