Lakers guard Cameron Carr was downgraded from day-to-day to out on Thursday's injury report with a right oblique injury. He will not play when the Lakers host the Clippers on Friday night, and the report lists Oct. 25 as his expected return.

What happened

Cameron Carr, a 21-year-old guard, is out with a right oblique injury, according to the injury report filed Thursday, Oct. 22 at 8:26 p.m. ET. He had been listed as day-to-day. The report comment cites Daniel Starkand of LakersNation.com, who reported that head coach JJ Redick said Carr was out for Wednesday's game against Golden State, is "ramping up" and can be considered day-to-day moving forward. Carr was also ruled out with the oblique injury on Oct. 20. Before that, on Oct. 8, he was listed day-to-day with an undisclosed issue.

What it means for the Lakers

The Lakers host the Clippers on Friday, Oct. 23 at 10 p.m. ET. They are 1-0, sit fourth in the standings and won their only game so far, which Carr missed. He has not played a game this season, so he has no season line yet. In that win, Luka Doncic scored 28 points in 29.7 minutes, Walker Kessler had 26 in 29.8 and Austin Reaves had 23 in 31.9. Quentin Grimes played 27.5 minutes, Ziaire Williams 24.1, Matisse Thybulle 23.2, Sandro Mamukelashvili 22.2 and Jake LaRavia 17.9. The guard minutes are already covered. LaRavia is day-to-day with a right ankle injury, and Adou Thiero is out with a left knee injury.

What to watch

Watch the next injury report before Friday's game against the Clippers to see if Carr's status changes. The report lists Oct. 25 as his expected return, which would put him back after Friday's game. Redick's description of him as "ramping up" and day-to-day, as reported by Starkand, suggests he is close. Keep an eye on LaRavia's ankle too. If both guards are limited, the backcourt rotation gets thinner.

Is Cameron Carr playing vs the Clippers on Friday, Oct. 23?

No. The latest injury report lists him as out with a right oblique injury.

When will Cameron Carr be back?

The injury report lists Oct. 25 as his expected return. Head coach JJ Redick said he is ramping up and can be considered day-to-day, according to Daniel Starkand of LakersNation.com. No firm return date has been announced beyond that.
