Lakers guard Cameron Carr moved from out to day-to-day on Thursday with a right oblique injury. That puts him in play for Friday's home game against the Clippers.
What happened
Cameron Carr, the Lakers' 21-year-old guard, was listed as day-to-day on the injury report at 1:14 a.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 22. The injury is to his right oblique. He had been out since Tuesday, Oct. 20, and missed Wednesday's game against Golden State. Head coach JJ Redick said Carr is "ramping up" and can be considered day-to-day moving forward, Daniel Starkand of LakersNation.com reports. Earlier, on Oct. 8, Carr was listed as day-to-day with an undisclosed issue.
What it means for the Lakers
Next up is the Clippers at home on Friday, Oct. 23, at 10 p.m. ET. The Lakers are 1-0, fourth in the standings, and have won one straight. Carr has not played in a game this season, so the team is 1-0 without him and 0-0 with him. In his absence, Austin Reaves has averaged 31.9 minutes and 23.0 points. Luka Doncic has averaged 29.7 minutes and 28.0 points, and Quentin Grimes 27.5 minutes and 10.0 points. Ziaire Williams (24.1 minutes) and Matisse Thybulle (23.2) have also taken wing minutes. Jake LaRavia has added 17.9 minutes and 10.0 points.
What to watch
The injury report lists Carr's expected return as Oct. 23, the day of the Clippers game. Look for his status on the next report before Friday's tip-off. A return there would be his season debut. The Lakers have two other players listed as day-to-day: Adou Thiero with a left knee issue and Collin Sexton with a right calf issue. Both could also affect the backcourt rotation against the Clippers.
