Jaylen Brown missed Friday's 98-93 Cup win over New York with a knee issue, and by Saturday his status had moved from Out to Day-To-Day, with tonight in Charlotte as his estimated return. Philly is 5-1 and goes for a third straight win against a Hornets team on a two-game skid.

Is Jaylen Brown playing tonight in Charlotte?

Nobody has said yes. His knee went from Day-To-Day to Out before the Knicks game, then swung back on Saturday, with Halloween listed as his estimated return. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Friday's absence as knee soreness. He is averaging 20.6 points and hitting 40.9 percent from deep in five games, so Nick Nurse won't sit him for no reason. He shouldn't rush him either.

Who loses minutes if Brown comes back?

That is the real fight. Anfernee Simons just went 7-of-11 for 21 against the Knicks and was on the floor at the finish; he is hitting 41.0 percent from three this season. Nurse closed with Simons, Maxey, James, Edgecombe and Embiid. Brown would make six players for five spots. Edgecombe grabbed 8 rebounds and finished +4, so sitting him costs something too.

Should Embiid's 3-of-12 night worry anyone?

A little. He went 0-for-4 from three with 4 turnovers, and he is at 14.3 percent from deep through five games. He still handed out 7 assists, finished +8 and is putting up 19.2 points and 9.4 rebounds a night. The bigger concern is workload: he logged 33 minutes Friday, and Philly plays again the next night.

How beatable are these Hornets?

Very. Charlotte is 3-3 with a net rating of -8.8 and is missing Kon Knueppel, Coby White, Grant Williams and Kylan Boswell. Brandon Miller is the problem at 24.5 points a game, and Naz Reid adds 16.2 points and 9.2 boards. Philly is allowing 103.3 points per 100 possessions. Keep Miller under his average and this one should be routine.

The verdictPhilly's pace projects to 68-14, a fine number for a Halloween costume and nothing else. Win in Charlotte with or without Brown, then get ready for the Bulls on November 2 and a November 4 trip to Detroit, the team that beat Philly 106-93 on October 25.
When is Jaylen Brown expected back from his knee injury?

Brown is listed Day-To-Day with a knee issue, and his estimated return is October 31 at Charlotte.

What is the 76ers' record this season?

Philadelphia is 5-1 and holds the East's No. 2 seed after beating the Knicks 98-93 on October 30.
