Marc Stein's Walter Clayton report had the highest confidence score on the board at 69, and Clayton now wears No. 4 for Dallas. The Dwight Powell to Fenerbahce report sits at 50 and is still open, and a $197.9M payroll against a $200.4M tax line leaves Dallas almost no room to add salary.

Stein Hit, Flagg Report Expired
On October 20, Marc Stein reported that Dallas was considered likely to sign Walter Clayton Jr. That report scored 69, the best on the board. A day later came a report that Clayton had agreed to a two-way deal, and he is now on the roster. That is a clean hit. The October 24 report that Cooper Flagg's left shoulder would be reevaluated the next week scored 46, and the games settled it first. Flagg put up 29 points and 11 assists at Miami on October 26, was cleared October 27, and scored 26 against Oklahoma City the next night.
Risacher and Welts Look Real
The Hoops Rumors item on Zaccharie Risacher's team option carries only a 43, but the number undersells it. ESPN's Tim MacMahon and Mavs.com both reported on October 28 that Dallas exercised his 2027-28 option. When the team's own site runs the same story, it is as close to settled as a report gets. The report that CEO Rick Welts will retire, with Casson succeeding him, also scored 43, and Mavs.com has since run a piece with Dusty May on the front-office leadership change. The report that second-round pick Ishchenko will be stashed overseas scored 41. It is real roster housekeeping, but it changes nothing this season.
Powell, and the Cap Problem
Donatas Urbonas reports that Dwight Powell is finalizing a one-year deal with Fenerbahce. That item scores 50 and is still open. Dallas waived Powell on October 19, which is confirmed, so this is about Powell's next stop, not a move by the Mavericks. The bigger point is what the board leaves out: no report names a trade target, and the books explain why. Dallas is at $197.9M with the tax line at $200.4M and the first apron at $209.0M. Kyrie Irving's $39.5M is the largest contract. The 2027 first is protected to Charlotte, and the firsts from 2028 through 2030 are swaps. Any trade report that adds salary should be read as noise until someone shows how Dallas would make the numbers work.
Did the Mavericks pick up Zaccharie Risacher's option?
ESPN's Tim MacMahon and Mavs.com reported on October 28 that Dallas exercised Risacher's 2027-28 team option.
Is Dwight Powell coming back to the Mavericks?
No. Dallas waived Powell on October 19, and Donatas Urbonas reports that he is finalizing a one-year deal with Fenerbahce.
