By our count, the Thunder have had 837 player-minutes out since Oct. 20, the eighth-most among the 30 clubs, and 113 of those are missing today. The 4-2 record still has them fifth, but a net rating of -0.7 over six games shows how thin the margin has become.

837: Minutes out since Oct. 20

Where the minutes went

Six Thunder players are out today. Jalen Williams (31.6 minutes a game) and Chet Holmgren (30.0) were the biggest rotation losses. Alex Caruso (18.9), Cason Wallace (16.3) and Nikola Topic (16.0) add to it, and Thomas Sorber is out too. Holmgren's listing runs to Jan. 2, 2027, and Williams and Wallace are listed to March 2, 2027. That is a lot of idle money. Williams and Holmgren each carry $41.5M, and the payroll of $214.8M sits above the first apron with the tax line at $200.4M. The assets are paid for. The availability is not there yet.

What short-term tags have meant

Since Oct. 20, 3 of the 4 Thunder players newly given a short-term injury tag missed the next game. Across the league the figure is 65 of 112, or 58%, rest days included. A fan should read a new listing here as a likely absence. Sorber, Caruso and Topic are listed to return Nov. 4, the home game against Cleveland. Treat that date as a target. Before then, the Thunder visit a 4-2 Cavaliers team on Nov. 2. Cleveland arrives with no rest days, and the Thunder had two.

Milestones and minutes to watch

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has 741 career threes, 9 short of 750. At 2.0 a game this season, that is a projection of about 5 games away, though he is shooting 30.0% from deep over six games. Isaiah Hartenstein is 79 rebounds short of 3,000. At 9.2 a game this season, that projects to about 9 games. Caruso is 14 threes short of 500, but he is out. The cost of the thin rotation shows in Jared McCain, whose minutes have risen 11 a night over the last three games. ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported that the Thunder are no longer signing Ochai Agbaji after Holmgren's injury, so help is not arriving from outside.

How many minutes have the Thunder lost to injuries this season?

The Thunder have had 837 player-minutes out since Oct. 20, the eighth-most of the 30 clubs. Today alone, six players account for 113 minutes.

When could Caruso, Topic and Sorber return?

All three are listed to return Nov. 4, the home game against Cleveland. Holmgren is listed to Jan. 2, 2027, and Jalen Williams and Wallace to March 2, 2027.
