The Bulls items worth trusting this month are about health and housekeeping, not trades. A payroll sitting $0.7 million under the cap keeps the trade talk in the opinion pages.

Claxton's clock. Hoops Rumors reported Oct. 19 that Nic Claxton is expected to miss two more weeks with the hamstring. The report carries a confidence score of 41 and is still open. It lines up with his listed return date of Nov. 4. Credible. It also means the $23.1 million center sits out Milwaukee, Washington, both Boston trips and the Knicks.
The stale timeline. The Oct. 5 Hoops Rumors item had Claxton out at least two weeks, with a confidence score of 24. The minimum held up, but the window closed Oct. 19 with no return. The newer report replaces it. Anyone still holding onto an October debut is reading an old note.
Options are done. Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors reported Oct. 20 that the Bulls exercised 2027-28 options on Matas Buzelis and Noa Essengue. It scores 42 and is still marked open, but Bulls.com announced the same moves that day. That is a transaction, not a rumor. Buzelis, a 16.3-point scorer last season, was never in doubt.
Hawkins and the camp churn. An Oct. 5 Hoops Rumors report of a two-way deal for Jordan Hawkins sits at 24, open. He is listed with the club and scored 14 against Minnesota on Oct. 16. The Oct. 17 report of four camp cuts is confirmed. Orlando Robinson, Drew Peterson, Brandon Boston and Jalen Bridges left Oct. 18.
The trade noise. Pippen Ain't Easy columns argued that Josh Giddey should create or get traded, and floated Kevin Porter Jr. and Dalton Knecht as fits. Those are arguments, not reports. No named source has tied Chicago to either player or to a Giddey deal. Giddey's $25.0 million is the top salary and his wrist is still a question.
What the cap allows. Payroll is $164.3 million against a $165.0 million cap, so there is no room to take on salary. Any real addition means matching money going out. The asset side is cleaner. Chicago owns its first-rounders from 2027 through 2030, and the only pick it owes away is the 2027 second to Oklahoma City.
When will Nic Claxton return for the Bulls?
He is out with a hamstring injury and has an estimated return date of Nov. 4. Hoops Rumors reported Oct. 19 that he would miss two more weeks.
Do the Bulls have cap space to make a trade?
Not much. Payroll is $164.3 million, which is $0.7 million under the $165.0 million cap, so adding salary means sending salary out.
