Lakers forward Ziaire Williams has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Warriors with a left foot issue, a day after he was listed as day-to-day. The Lakers will play at Golden State without him and without Adou Thiero, who is also out.
What happened
Ziaire Williams has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Warriors. The injury report changed the forward's status to Out at 4:23 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 30, citing his left foot. He was listed as day-to-day on Thursday, one day after he was listed as out on Wednesday. Mark Medina of TheSportingTribune.com reported that Williams will sit because of left foot injury management. The foot first showed up on the report on Oct. 10. He was cleared on Oct. 16, and this latest stretch began on Oct. 28.
What it means for the Lakers
The Lakers are 4-1, fourth in the standings, and won their last game. They play at the Warriors at 10 p.m. ET on Friday on Prime Video. Williams has averaged 11.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 28.4 minutes over four games. The Lakers are 3-1 with him and 1-0 without him. In the rotation without him, Luka Doncic averaged 35.5 minutes and 36.0 points, and Austin Reaves averaged 35.2 minutes and 24.4 points. Matisse Thybulle (24.7 minutes), Sandro Mamukelashvili (24.2), Jake LaRavia (21.7) and Jarred Vanderbilt (21.0) fill out the group. Adou Thiero is also out with a left knee issue.
What to watch
The injury report lists Nov. 1 as Williams' expected return date. That would make Sunday the target, two days after the Warriors game. Watch the next report for any change from Out. His foot has moved him on and off the report several times this month, so the status in the days before his next game is the one to track. Thiero's status is the other open question for the Lakers.
