Ziaire Williams was cleared on the injury report Monday afternoon, a day after he was listed out. The Lakers host the Heat tonight at 10:00 PM ET.
What happened
Ziaire Williams was moved to Cleared on the injury report at 4:22 PM ET on Monday, Nov. 2. He had been listed as Out the day before, Sunday, with a left foot and leg issue. The report gave no detail and no comment with the change, and no return date was announced. The status has moved often. He was Out on Oct. 28, Day-To-Day on Oct. 29, Out on Oct. 30, Day-To-Day on Oct. 31 and Out again on Nov. 1. Before that, he had been cleared on Oct. 16.
What it means for the Lakers
The Lakers host the Heat on Monday at 10:00 PM ET. They are 5-2, fourth in the standings, and have won one straight. Williams has played four games this season and averages 28.4 minutes, 11.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists. The Lakers are 3-1 with him and 2-1 without him. In the games he missed, Austin Reaves (36.0 minutes), Luka Doncic (35.8), Walker Kessler (30.6) and Quentin Grimes (26.8) carried the biggest loads. Matisse Thybulle, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Jake LaRavia and Collin Sexton filled the rest of the rotation. Adou Thiero is listed out with a left knee and leg issue.
What to watch
The Lakers have not said how many minutes Williams will play against the Heat, and no restriction was announced. Because his status has changed almost every day since Oct. 28, the next injury report is worth checking for any new entry. No expected return applies now that he is cleared. Watch his minutes tonight against the 28.4 he has averaged this season, and whether Grimes, Thybulle and LaRavia keep their roles. Thiero remains out.
