Alpha Diallo is listed out with a right wrist and arm issue on the Sunday injury report, but the report's comment lists him as questionable for Monday's game against Portland. The Nuggets host the Trail Blazers at 9:00 PM ET on Nov. 2 and may be without a guard who has played one game this season.
What happened
The Nuggets' injury report, posted Sunday, Nov. 1, at 7:16 PM ET, lists Alpha Diallo as out with a right wrist and arm issue. His previous status was also out. The report's comment reads: "Diallo (wrist) is listed as questionable for Monday's game versus Portland." The report gives an expected return date of Nov. 2. Diallo's status has moved between day-to-day and out since Oct. 23, when the wrist first appeared as day-to-day. On Oct. 27 he was listed out for a personal reason. The Nuggets have not announced a diagnosis or a timeline beyond the report.
What it means for the Nuggets
Denver hosts the Trail Blazers on Monday, Nov. 2, at 9:00 PM ET. The Nuggets are 3-2, the 8th seed, and have won two straight. Diallo, a 29-year-old guard, has played one game this season: 22.2 minutes, 4.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Denver is 0-1 with him and 3-1 without him. In games without him, Jamal Murray averaged 38.2 minutes, Nikola Jokic 37.2, Christian Braun 36.1, Aaron Gordon 30.3 and DeMar DeRozan 26.0. Trevon Brazile (22.8), Cameron Johnson (22.5) and Bryce Hopkins (16.5) filled the rest of the rotation. Julian Strawther and Spencer Jones are also out.
What to watch
The next update is the Monday report ahead of the 9:00 PM ET tip against Portland. That report should settle whether Diallo moves from out to questionable, as the comment suggests, or stays out. The Nuggets list Nov. 2 as his expected return date. His status for any game after Portland is not announced. Watch whether Brazile, Johnson and Hopkins again take the minutes behind the starters if he sits, and whether Strawther or Jones return from their own absences.
