Rumor Check: One Deal Confirmed, One Departure, No Room For More

Christoph Tilly's number is on record, Lindy Waters left for China, and the ledger blocks anything bigger.

The only two roster reports tied to Oklahoma City right now are a confirmed Exhibit 10 deal and a departure that already happened elsewhere. Neither changes the roster the Thunder open camp with, and the payroll explains why nothing larger is close.

$216.2M: Payroll

Tilly, Now With A Number

A transaction dated Sept. 19 lists Christoph Tilly's contract at $1,357,763, an Exhibit 10 deal that matches the Sept. 14 report from Hoops Rumors, filed there at confidence 40. The number is now on record, not just reported, though Exhibit 10 money is non-guaranteed and would only hit the books if Oklahoma City converts it during camp. Thunderous Intentions argued on Sept. 17 that the signing does not address the frontcourt's real weakness, a fit question separate from whether the deal itself is real.

Waters Is Already Gone

The other report from that same stretch, dated Sept. 15, has Lindy Waters signing with the Beijing Ducks, filed at confidence 41. That is an outbound transaction, not an addition to weigh: Waters already left, and no report on file leaves open a path back to Oklahoma City this season. Confidence scores here describe how solid the sourcing is, not whether the Thunder gain anything from either report.

Why The Ledger Says No

Both reports land against a payroll of $216.2M, already above the $200.4M luxury tax line and into apron territory before Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's $40.8M, Jalen Williams' $41.5M, Chet Holmgren's $41.5M and Isaiah Hartenstein's $23.1M are even weighed against what comes next. That gap is why the only two reports on file this month are a minimum contract and a player leaving, not a trade for size. Until that number moves, any rumor involving an outgoing salary belongs in the same bucket as Tilly and Waters: worth tracking, not worth banking on.

Did the Thunder confirm Christoph Tilly's contract number?

Yes. A transaction dated Sept. 19 lists his Exhibit 10 deal at $1,357,763, matching the Sept. 14 report from Hoops Rumors.

Is Lindy Waters returning to the Thunder?

No. Reports dated Sept. 15 have him signing with the Beijing Ducks, not Oklahoma City.
