Oklahoma City waived rookie Otega Oweh on Saturday to open a two-way spot, and OKCThunder.com now reports Micah Peavy has signed there. The 2-0 Thunder host the Clippers today with two days of rest and a lopsided gap in last season's net rating.

A roster spot changes hands

The Thunder waived Oweh on Saturday. RealGM reported the move opened a two-way spot for Peavy, and OKCThunder.com on Sunday listed his signing. Oweh, a rookie guard, had been ruled out on October 14 with a right Achilles rupture, so the spot was not going to be used this season. The cost is small: a contract at the edge of the roster, with no effect on the core.

A rested team meets a short one

The Clippers arrive 1-1 on the second game of their road trip, with five players out: Brandon Ingram and Bradley Beal among them, plus Max Strus, Yanic Konan Niederhauser and Jordan Miller. Oklahoma City has had two days off. Last season the Thunder posted a net rating of 11.1 against 1.1 for Los Angeles. That gap is the number to hold onto, because tonight it should show up in the margin.

Bench minutes and a Monday return

Nikola Topic and Thomas Sorber are both out, each with a return date of October 26, the day the Suns visit. In the last three games, Alex Caruso has played 10 more minutes a night and Jared McCain 11 more, each with a teammate out. The open question is how those minutes get redistributed once Topic and Sorber are back. The Thunder's margin over the last 10 games is +2.0, well below last season's pace, so the answer will show in the box score.

Who did the Thunder waive and who replaced the roster spot?

The Thunder waived Otega Oweh on October 24, and OKCThunder.com reports Micah Peavy signed a two-way contract. Oweh had been ruled out for the season with a right Achilles rupture.

When do Nikola Topic and Thomas Sorber return?

Both are out, and each carries a return date of October 26, when the Thunder host the Suns. Neither is listed for the Clippers game.
