Anthony Edwards scored 47 points in Cleveland on Monday night, and Minnesota still left with its first loss, 127-125 in overtime. The Wolves are 3-1 and sixth, and Edwards, listed day-to-day with a knee issue before the game, has been cleared.

How Fifteen Slipped Away

Minnesota led 60-50 at halftime and by as many as 15. Cleveland scored 36 in the period after the break, including a 12-0 run that turned 69-58 into 69-70. The Wolves answered with an 11-0 burst for a 101-94 lead in the fourth, and regulation ended 113-113. In overtime Edwards scored 11 of Minnesota's 12 points. Down 125-122 with nine seconds left, LaMelo Ball missed both free throws, Jonathan Kuminga grabbed the rebound, and Edwards missed a 25-foot pull-up three. Peyton Watson made two free throws to close it.

The Number Is Seven

Ball had 11 points and six assists, but he also had seven turnovers in 31 minutes and finished at minus 10. Fans have argued since the summer trade about whether his game fits a team that wins by defending first, and Monday gave both sides something to point to. The defense bent more broadly too: a night after holding Toronto to 94, Minnesota gave up 127. Donovan Mitchell scored 26, James Harden added 19 with nine assists, and Meleek Thomas made 4 of 5 threes off the bench.

Golden State, Then the Cup

The Warriors visit Target Center on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The Clippers follow on Oct. 30 in an Emirates NBA Cup game, then Minnesota plays at San Antonio on Oct. 31. Jon Krawczynski posted for The Athletic that Edwards played through some discomfort early on Monday. He has since been cleared. Donte DiVincenzo remains out with a right Achilles injury and is projected back April 2, 2027. One bench line stood out: Joan Beringer went 6 for 6 with seven rebounds in 17 minutes. The question for Chris Finch is who closes. Ball and Ayo Dosunmu were on the court at the end, while Jaden McDaniels, who shot 6 of 9 and finished plus 5, was not.

Is Anthony Edwards injured?

Edwards was listed day-to-day with a knee issue before the Cleveland game and still scored 47 in 41 minutes. He has since been cleared.

When do the Timberwolves play next?

Minnesota hosts the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, Oct. 28. It then hosts the Clippers on Oct. 30 in an Emirates NBA Cup game.
