JONATHAN Kuminga

Playing for the Hawks in 2025-26, Kuminga appeared in 36 games and averaged 12.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 23.1 minutes. He shot 46.3 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from three and 72.4 percent from the line, good for a 55.7 true shooting mark. His usage rate sat at 22.6 percent, and Atlanta was plus-2.0 with him on the floor. He also chipped in 0.6 steals and 0.3 blocks a night against 1.9 turnovers. Those numbers now travel with him to Minnesota, where he'll look to carve out a role as a wing who can score and rebound. Atlanta's season included a playoff series against the Knicks, where Kuminga saw action in four games, posting a high of 21 points in a win on April 23 before the series ended.

Kuminga is not on the injury report right now. He had been working through a day-to-day rest designation, first appearing on the report as day-to-day on Oct. 10 and again on Oct. 15 before being cleared later that same day. He showed up as day-to-day again for rest on Oct. 16 and was cleared the next day, Oct. 17. None of the listings were tied to a specific injury beyond rest, and he's entered the stretch before the opener with a clean bill of health.

Kuminga's preseason log has been inconsistent. He didn't play in losses to Chicago on Oct. 16 and in wins over New York on Oct. 12 and Miami on Oct. 10. When he has played, the results have been mixed: 16 points, four rebounds and three assists in 21.9 minutes in an Oct. 14 loss to Detroit, eight points and two rebounds in 14.1 minutes in an Oct. 5 win over Milwaukee, and two points, one rebound and three assists in 18.9 minutes in an Oct. 7 loss to Indiana. The rest designations on the injury log line up with some of those DNPs, suggesting the Timberwolves have been managing his workload heading into the regular season.

The Timberwolves' regular-season opener is still ahead, and how Kuminga is used once games count will be the first real test of the fit. He arrives with a track record as a 12-point scorer who can rebound and facilitate in flashes, built over 36 games in Atlanta last season. The rest-related absences late in the preseason point to a team being careful with his minutes before games start to matter. For now, he's healthy, he's not on the injury report, and the preseason sample is too thin and too scattered to draw firm conclusions about his role in Minnesota.
