The Porzingis Trade Talk Is Thin, and the Cap Sheet Makes It Thinner
The only report with real weight on this roster is the one about Porzingis, and a player who is Out with illness and has no return date until December is hard to move.
HoopsRumors reported on October 21 that the Warriors were exploring trade avenues for Kristaps Porzingis, and a report the next day named the Bucks as a team contacted. Nothing has followed in eleven days, and a payroll of $219.8M leaves little room to act.

What was reported, and by whom
On October 21, HoopsRumors reported that Golden State was exploring trade avenues for Porzingis. A report dated October 22 said the Bucks were among the teams contacted. Both carry a confidence score of 32 and both are still open. Brett Siegel's October 24 roundup, which lists Porzingis alongside the Grizzlies, scores 40. A report is not a deal, and none of these says one is close.
Why the score is low
Porzingis has been out indefinitely since September 28 and was officially listed Out on October 16, with the cause marked as other. He is now listed Out with illness and an estimated return of December 1. A team asked to take $19.5M of salary wants to know what it is buying. Golden State cannot answer that, and neither can anyone else outside the building. Since October 21, no outlet has added a name, a player or a pick to the story.
Does the cap sheet allow it?
Payroll stands at $219.8M, past the $200.4M luxury tax line, and the team is listed above the first apron. That limits what the front office can do in trades or free agency. The picks are also thin: the Warriors owe a 2029 second-rounder to Brooklyn and a protected 2030 first and a conditional second to Memphis. They hold their own firsts in 2027, 2028 and 2029. Those firsts are the only sweetener, and spending one on a sick player is a hard sell.
The reports worth believing
Two other reports score higher, and both have already played out. The report that the Warriors planned to waive Dalen Terry scored 44 and is marked moved. Kerr saying Curry was fine after a practice scare scored 42, and Curry has since scored 44 and 31 in two wins. The Porzingis reports score lower than both. Until he is healthy, treat them as noise.
Are the Warriors trading Kristaps Porzingis?
No trade has happened. HoopsRumors reported on October 21 that Golden State was exploring options, and nothing has been reported since.
Can the Warriors afford to make a trade?
Payroll is $219.8M, above the $200.4M luxury tax line, which limits what the front office can do in trades. Porzingis's $19.5M salary and his December 1 estimated return make any move harder.
