The 2026-27 season has not tipped off, and every team sits at 0-0. The injury wire was busy anyway, with Washington's Tristan Vukcevic sidelined and a long list of other players across the league returning to full health. Houston, Chicago, Utah and the Raptors all had roster news to settle before opening night.
The injury wire
Washington is without Tristan Vukcevic, out with a left hip injury. Toronto added three day-to-day cases: Kyle Anderson (right knee), Jamison Battle (back) and Allen Graves (groin). Miami's Dru Smith and Philadelphia's Tacko Fall both moved from out to day-to-day. Elsewhere the wire cleared up: Detroit's Jalen Duren, Memphis' Jaylen Wells, Walter Clayton Jr. and Scotty Pippen Jr., Milwaukee's Kevin Porter Jr., Oklahoma City's Ajay Mitchell and Isaiah Hartenstein, Philadelphia's Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Utah's Jaren Jackson Jr., and Washington's Trae Young and Anthony Davis are all cleared.
Moves and reports
The Jazz parted with Jaelen House, the Bulls moved on from Marquel Sutton and Peter Suder, and the Rockets waived two-way guard Rafael Castro. Per hoopsrumors, those moves were part of a wider wave of minor roster business across Chicago, Utah and Portland, and Brett Siegel confirmed the Castro waiver. The Raptors signed Jamal Shead to a three-year extension, and Rogers now controls 100% of the team's parent company, per hoopsrumors. The Suns exercised their 2027-28 options on Ryan Dunn and Khaman Maluach, per hoopsrumors. The Mavericks will guarantee Moussa Cisse's 2026-27 salary, per Mike Curtis. The Pistons are re-signing Jalen Duren to a five-year deal, and Kelly Olynyk is reportedly expected to sign with BC Roma, both per hoopsrumors.
