Anthony Black is day-to-day for a personal reason after he missed Wednesday's morning shootaround. The Magic play at Toronto on Wednesday night with Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs both listed as out.

What happened

Anthony Black is day-to-day for a personal reason, per the injury report released Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 10:58 a.m. ET. The report gives the detail as personal and other. He was not at Wednesday's morning shootaround, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reported. This listing has no previous status. The 22-year-old guard had only recently come off a right ankle injury. That ankle moved him between out and day-to-day from Oct. 11 through Oct. 23, and he was cleared on Sunday, Oct. 25. The reason for his absence has not been announced.

What it means for the Magic

Orlando plays at Toronto on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Magic are 1-2, sit 10th, and won their last game. Black has played one game and had 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 26.0 minutes. Orlando is 1-0 with him and 0-2 without him. In the two games he missed, Desmond Bane played 31.7 minutes, Jase Richardson 15.3 and Jevon Carter 13.5. The guard group is thin. Banchero and Suggs both averaged more than 33 minutes in those games, and both are listed as out. So are Jonathan Isaac, Noah Penda and Izaiyah Nelson. Franz Wagner, Wendell Carter Jr. and Tristan da Silva are the healthy regulars left from that group.

What to watch

The next injury report before tipoff in Toronto will show whether Black is available. The report lists Oct. 28 as his expected return, which is the day of the game. Beyond that, the team has not announced a timeline. Black's status matters because Orlando is already without Banchero and Suggs. Watch how Bane, Richardson and Jevon Carter split the ball-handling if Black does not play.
