Warriors forward Gui Santos has been ruled out for Wednesday's game at Minnesota because of left knee tendinitis. Golden State will also be without Kristaps Porzingis, Jimmy Butler III and Moses Moody.
What happened
Gui Santos is out for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. The injury report posted at 7:18 p.m. ET Wednesday lists a left knee issue. Its comment says Santos was ruled out because of left knee tendinitis. Santos had been cleared on Tuesday, Oct. 27, after he was listed as day-to-day on Sunday, Oct. 25. That Sunday listing was first undisclosed and then changed to the left knee. The same knee also put him on the day-to-day list on Friday, Oct. 16, and he was cleared that same day.
What it means for the Warriors
Golden State plays at Minnesota at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday. The Warriors are 1-3 and 12th in the West, and they won their last game. Santos has played all four games, averaging 9.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 23.9 minutes. He has not missed a game yet, so the Warriors have no record without him. His minutes go to a frontcourt that is already short. Yaxel Lendeborg averages 33.4 minutes, Draymond Green 26.4, Georges Niang 18.7 and Al Horford 18.4. Kristaps Porzingis (illness), Jimmy Butler III (right knee) and Moses Moody (left knee) are also out.
What to watch
The injury report lists Oct. 30 as Santos' expected return date. Watch the next report for any change in his status. Left knee tendinitis is the issue this time, and the left knee has now put him on the report three times since Oct. 16. The Warriors also need to see whether Porzingis, Butler or Moody can return. Until then, Lendeborg, Green, Niang and Horford will carry the frontcourt minutes.
