Wembanyama Up +10 Minutes a Night With a Teammate Out
Victor Wembanyama's minutes have jumped sharply for the Spurs over his last three games, and his scoring has barely moved.
Victor Wembanyama is playing 10 more minutes a night for the Spurs over his last three games, with a teammate out of the lineup, through June 13, 2026.
Over that stretch he averaged 40.2 minutes a game. For the 2025-26 season he has averaged 30.4 minutes across 86 games. That is a jump of roughly a third in playing time over just three games.
His scoring has not moved much to match it. He averaged 25 points a game over the last three games, barely above his season mark of 24.7. More minutes have not meant a bigger scoring role. He is doing the same job for longer stretches, not a different one.
That split matters. If the extra minutes were about shooting more or taking over the offense, the points would have jumped with them. Instead the workload grew while the role stayed the same, which points to the absence covering more of the floor than one shot total.
Whether this holds depends on the teammate who is out. If that player returns, Wembanyama's minutes should drop back toward his season average of 30.4. If the absence continues for the Spurs, expect the heavier minutes to keep showing up, with scoring staying close to his season rate unless the shot volume changes too.
