What happened
McCollum was listed day-to-day on Monday, Oct. 12, with a rest issue, and he will not play that night against the Thunder, according to the injury report. The report carried no prior status for this entry. It is McCollum's second rest-related tag of the preseason: he was day-to-day with a nose and head issue on Oct. 5 and was cleared from that day-to-day status on Oct. 8. What it means for the Hawks
Atlanta hosts Oklahoma City on Monday at 7 p.m. ET in its preseason game without McCollum, who averaged 18.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 29.8 minutes across 76 games last season. In his absence, Jalen Johnson (35.2 minutes, 22.5 points), Nickeil Alexander-Walker (33.4 minutes, 20.8 points), Dyson Daniels (33.2 minutes, 11.9 points) and Trae Young (28.0 minutes, 19.3 points) have taken on the heaviest rotation workloads. The Hawks are 0-0 with the 2026-27 regular season not yet underway, so there is no record to compare with or without McCollum this year.
