Thunder's Margin Shrinks to 2.0 a Game
Oklahoma City is still winning, but the blowouts have stopped.
The Thunder are winning by an average of 2.0 points over their last 10 games this season. For the full season, through 97 games, their margin is 10.5 points. That is a drop of 8.5 points a game between the two windows.
A 10.5-point season margin points to a team that pulls away from opponents most nights. A 2.0-point margin points to a team that is still ahead on the scoreboard, but only barely. The gap between those two numbers is the story: Oklahoma City has gone from routinely deciding games early to deciding them late.
These are last season's numbers, from 2025-26, as of May 30, 2026. The 10-game window is short by design. It shows where a team stands right now, separate from the full-season record that built up over five months. A team can carry a big season margin into its final games and still be playing closer basketball than the full-season number suggests.
For the Thunder's margin to move back toward their season average of 10.5, their next games need to look more like the bulk of their season did than like their last 10. For the margin to keep falling, the closer scoring pattern from the last 10 games needs to continue. Either way, the number to watch is the same one already in hand: the difference between 2.0 and 10.5 points a game, and which side of that gap the next set of results lands on.
