Giannis And Bam Both Land On Heat's Injury List

Two starters join three role players on the injury report before camp opens.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo picked up injury tags this week, each given the same Oct. 1 target date as three camp regulars already sidelined. That timeline points to both starters being ready before camp intensifies, but neither has been confirmed for the preseason opener at Toronto.

Two Stars Tagged

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo now carry injury tags of their own, joining Trevor Keels, Myron Gardner and Ryan Conwell on the list. All five share the same target return of October 1, two days before the preseason opener at Toronto.

Camp Calendar

The preseason runs four games: October 3 at Toronto on NBA TV, then home dates against New Orleans on the 8th, Minnesota on the 10th and Brooklyn on the 14th. The regular season opens at home on October 21, hosting the Timberwolves on ESPN.

One Number

Simone Fontecchio shot 70.8 percent true shooting over his final 10 games last season, a jump from his number across the full year. It is a small sample, but it says a reserve wing found a more efficient stroke than his stat line shows.

Open Question

Can Spoelstra get his two best players cleared before the games start counting? An October 1 target gives Miami a two-week buffer before the opener, but training camp work is exactly what these two need most, and they are set to miss its start.
