The Lakers fell 124-98 at Golden State on Tuesday, trailing by as much as 38 points with Doncic, Reaves and Kessler all out of the lineup. Sandro Mamukelashvili scored a team-high 15, but it was the reserves who absorbed the damage with zero rest between preseason stops.

Reserves Absorb a Rout

Golden State led by 38 and never let up, opening with a 45-31 edge in the first quarter and cruising from there. Mamukelashvili's 15 points came on 6-of-10 shooting and 3-of-4 from deep, but he finished minus-20. Jaden Hardy scored 13 in 19 minutes, and Quentin Grimes added 12 while matching Jake LaRavia at a team-worst minus-24. Dalton Knecht's 11 points left him as the only one of the group to finish in positive territory, at plus-3 in 22 minutes.

Rest Over Results

None of Doncic, Reaves or Kessler appeared in the box score. Redick sent his regulars home a night after their 127-103 win in Sacramento, giving them zero days off between the two preseason stops. Reaves, nursing an ankle issue, and Kessler, dealing with a finger injury, both carry an expected return date of October 8, the day the Lakers host the Kings again.

Sacramento, Round Two

The Lakers close this no-rest stretch by hosting the Kings on October 8 (ESPN2), then face Golden State again on October 13 and Denver on October 16. The regular-season opener, a rematch with the Warriors, is set for October 21. With Reaves and Kessler targeting Thursday's return, the next look at the starting group should be fuller than Tuesday's was.

Why didn't Doncic play against the Warriors?

Redick rested Doncic, along with Reaves and Kessler, with no rest between preseason games, leaving reserves to play most of the 124-98 loss.

When do the Lakers play next?

They host the Kings on October 8 on ESPN2, with Reaves and Kessler both targeting that date for their return.
