Suns Camp Gets Three New Names as Preseason Nears

Three new names. John Camden, Corey Camper and Samuel Hoiberg joined the Suns on September 23, all three listed as rookies. They arrive on a group whose payroll stands at $216.2 million against the tax threshold Phoenix already sits over, so the open question is whether any of the three survive the roster cuts before the opener.

Williams still sidelined. Mark Williams remains out with a left shoulder and arm injury. Shams Charania reported on September 11 that Williams had undergone shoulder surgery, and the estimated return is February 1, 2027. CJ Huntley is day-to-day with a hamstring issue, targeting an October 1 return.

Booker's bench binge. In the final five games of last season, Devin Booker scored 24.4 points a night for Phoenix and reached 20 points in four of them, production that came off the bench rather than as a starter.

Ighodaro's minutes climb. Over Phoenix's last three games of 2025-26 with a teammate out, Oso Ighodaro's minutes jumped by 12 a night compared to his season average, and his scoring rose with them.

Green feels it too. The same three-game stretch saw Jalen Green's minutes climb by 13 a night whenever a teammate sat, though the sample from last season is still small enough to read with caution.

Countdown to tipoff. Phoenix opens the preseason on October 5 at the Pistons, then plays at the Bulls on October 7 and hosts San Antonio on October 10 on ESPN2 before a rematch at the Spurs on October 14. The regular-season opener is October 21 at Portland.
