Phoenix enters 2026-27 above the first apron, with Devin Booker's extension and four other contracts shaping nearly all of the spending. The books stay tight until Miles Bridges' deal is set to clear next summer.

The Topline Number. Phoenix's payroll sits at $216.2M, above the $209.0M first apron and clear of the $200.4M luxury tax line, against a $165.0M salary cap. The second apron sits at $221.7M, the next threshold if spending climbs further this season.

Booker's Extension Anchors It. Devin Booker earns $57.1M this season, rising to $61.0M in 2027-28 under his two-year, $145 million max extension, which runs through 2029-30 and is the richest annual salary in NBA history. His number anchors every other figure on this sheet.

Green And Bridges Add Up. Jalen Green is set for $36.3M this season and holds a $36.0M player option for 2027-28. Miles Bridges adds $22.8M this season, the fourth-largest deal on the roster.

Brooks And Beal Round Out. Dillon Brooks is owed $20.0M this season and $22.5M next. Bradley Beal holds a $19.4M player option for 2026-27 and is listed for $19.4M again in 2027-28.

What Comes Off Next. Miles Bridges' $22.8M salary is not on the 2027-28 cap sheet, along with Haywood Highsmith's $3.4M, Jamaree Bouyea's $2.6M and E.J. Liddell's $0.7M, the biggest chunk of this season's books set to clear.

Draft Picks Mostly Swaps. Phoenix owes its 2027 first-round pick to Houston and its 2029 second-rounder to New York. Every other pick through 2030, both first and second round, is tied up in swaps rather than outright sent.

Flexibility Stays Thin. Above the first apron, with most future picks already committed to swaps, Phoenix has little room to add salary through trades or free agency until contracts start coming off the books next summer. The margin for maneuvering stays narrow.

On deck The Suns play at the Bulls on 2026-10-07, then host the Spurs on 2026-10-10, visit San Antonio again on 2026-10-14 and host Utah on 2026-10-16, all preseason, before the regular-season opener at Portland on 2026-10-21.
Are the Suns over the salary cap for 2026-27?

Yes. Payroll sits at $216.2M, above the $209.0M first apron and the $200.4M luxury tax line, against a $165.0M salary cap.
