The Suns fell 103-123 at San Antonio on Wednesday as the Spurs took over in the second quarter, while Jamaree Bouyea's 15 points and eight assists led a lineup missing most of its regulars. Phoenix closes the preseason Oct. 16 against Utah, with six rested regulars carrying that same return estimate.

Spurs Pile It On. Wednesday's 103-123 loss at San Antonio got away in the middle quarters, as the Spurs outscored Phoenix 38-26 in the second and never let up. Jamaree Bouyea posted 15 points and eight assists, Ryan Dunn made all six shots for 15, but the bench actually outscored the starters, 59-44.
Kennard's Early Exit. Arizona Sports reported that Luke Kennard left Wednesday's game early with an apparent left knee injury, a detail not yet reflected in the official report. His status for the Oct. 16 game against Utah is still unclear.
Six Back for Utah. Six regulars sat out the Spurs game — Devin Booker, Miles Bridges, Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green, Oso Ighodaro and Collin Gillespie — for rest or injury, and each carries the same Oct. 16 return estimate. That lines them all up to play the preseason finale against Utah.
Center Spot Still Open. Mark Williams has been out since mid-September with a shoulder and arm injury on his left side, and the estimate now on file points to Feb. 3, 2027. With six days left before the Oct. 21 opener at Portland, the center spot he'd fill remains open.
Payroll Above the Line. Phoenix's payroll sits at $216.2 million, above both the $209.0 million first apron and the $200.4 million luxury tax line. Booker's $57.1 million is the single biggest number, followed by Green at $36.3 million, Bridges at $22.8 million and Brooks at $20.0 million.
Utah on Deck. Utah went 22-60 last season under Will Hardy, with a net rating of minus-8.2. Lauri Markkanen averaged 26.7 points and Keyonte George added 23.6, the top returning scorers for a Jazz team still at 0-0, same as Phoenix, with real games starting the week after.
Workload Creeping Up. When a regular has sat out recently, Brooks' playing time has climbed by eight minutes per game and Green's by 13, each pushing scoring up along with it. Ighodaro's minutes have risen by 12 in the same stretch, a small sample that preseason rest will only keep growing.
When do the Suns play again?
Phoenix closes its preseason slate against Utah on Oct. 16, then opens the regular season Oct. 21 at Portland.
Who is out for the Suns right now?
Mark Williams remains out with a shoulder and arm injury, with no firm return before Feb. 3, 2027; six other regulars were rested or banged up for the Spurs game and carry an Oct. 16 return estimate.
