The Suns led by as many as 13 points before Utah's bench-fueled rally flipped the preseason finale, with Darryn Peterson's late free throws proving the difference in a 119-116 finish. Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green each scored 18, but it was Phoenix's own reserves on the floor when the lead slipped away.

Thirteen points, gone. Phoenix led by as many as 13 before Utah erased it. A 14-0 run from the 10:59 mark of the fourth gave the Jazz a 104-100 edge, and after Darryn Peterson's two free throws made it 119-113, Pat Spencer's three with five seconds left pulled Phoenix within 119-116 — too late to finish the rally.

Brooks, Green both hit 18. Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green each scored 18 to lead Phoenix, Brooks going 6 of 13 from the floor and 2 of 5 from three, Green matching the shooting line with 3 of 5 from deep and three steals. Both finished plus-10 in 23 minutes, the best plus-minus marks on the roster.

Booker's low-key close. Devin Booker played a team-high 26 minutes and ran the offense with six assists, but his 16 points came on just 6-of-16 shooting, and he finished minus-3 — the only Suns starter listed on the floor in the negative for the night.

Reserves closed the door. The final five minutes belonged to Jamaree Bouyea, Koa Peat, Koby Brea, Pat Spencer and Rasheer Fleming — no starter played the finish. Spencer scored eight off the bench, including the last three that made it 119-116, while Bouyea added 12 points but finished minus-9 in 14 minutes.

Injury list gets shorter. Booker, Jalen Green, Miles Bridges and Collin Gillespie all cleared their day-to-day tags this week. Luke Kennard and Oso Ighodaro remain day-to-day with an expected return of October 21, the same date as the regular-season opener, while Mark Williams stays out with no return before February.

Preseason ends at 1-2. Phoenix closes exhibition play having split results against the Spurs and dropped the finale to Utah, with a single win over San Antonio in between two losses. The real schedule opens in five days at Portland, then Golden State at home and Oklahoma City on the road before the month closes.

On deck Phoenix opens the regular season in five days at Portland on October 21, then hosts Golden State on October 24 (NBA TV) before road games at Oklahoma City on October 26 and a home Emirates NBA Cup game against Denver on October 30.
