Ezra Ausar landed on Miami's injury report Friday night as day-to-day with an undisclosed issue. The official estimate points to a return by the Heat's next game, Oct. 21 against the Timberwolves.
What happened
Ezra Ausar, 23, appeared on the Heat's injury report Friday, Oct. 16 at 11:38 PM ET with a day-to-day designation. The report lists the issue only as undisclosed, filed under the "other" category, with no body part specified. There is no previous status on file for Ausar, and the report carries no additional comment. The same report lists an expected return of Oct. 21, which is the date of Miami's next game.
What it means for the Heat
Miami is 0-0 with the 2026-27 season not yet underway, and its next game is Oct. 21 against the Timberwolves at 7:30 PM ET on ESPN. Ausar has no season line yet, so there is no established role of his to replace. In recent games without him, Miami's workload ran through Bam Adebayo (32.4 minutes, 20.1 points), Tyler Herro (31.3 minutes, 20.5 points), Andrew Wiggins (30.3 minutes, 15.4 points) and Norman Powell (29.6 minutes, 21.7 points), with Davion Mitchell, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Pelle Larsson and Kel'el Ware also logging rotation minutes. With no regular-season games played yet this season, there is no record with or without Ausar to cite.
What to watch
The next injury report will show whether Ausar's day-to-day tag holds or changes ahead of the Oct. 21 opener against the Timberwolves. The official estimate has him back for that game, though his status is not announced beyond day-to-day for now. Miami's rotation, led by Adebayo, Herro, Wiggins and Powell, will be worth watching in the minutes before that report is updated.
