Adou Thiero was ruled out of Wednesday's game against the Warriors on the Tuesday evening injury report, which lists a left knee issue after he had been day-to-day. The Lakers open the 2026-27 season without the 22-year-old guard, with a return listed as expected for Oct. 23.
What happened
The official injury report updated Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 8:18 PM ET moved Adou Thiero from day-to-day to out. The listed detail is a left knee issue. The report's comment reads: "Thiero (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against Golden State." The report lists an expected return of Oct. 23. Thiero had been on the report since Oct. 13, when he was listed day-to-day with an undisclosed issue. No further detail on the knee has been announced.
What it means for the Lakers
The Lakers open the 2026-27 season Wednesday, Oct. 21 against the Warriors at 10:00 PM ET on ESPN. The record is 0-0, so there is no with-or-without split for Thiero yet. Last season he played 25 games at 6.0 minutes per game, averaging 1.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.4 assists, so his absence does not touch the core rotation. The minutes without him run through Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves and LeBron James, with Marcus Smart, Rui Hachimura and Deandre Ayton behind them and Jake LaRavia and Luke Kennard rounding out the group. Cameron Carr is also out with a right oblique issue, and Collin Sexton is day-to-day with a right calf issue.
What to watch
The report lists Oct. 23 as the expected return, so the next injury report will show whether Thiero's status changes ahead of the games that follow the opener. Any update to Collin Sexton's day-to-day calf designation would also affect the guard depth behind Doncic, Reaves and Smart. Nothing beyond the Oct. 23 date has been announced.
Is Adou Thiero playing vs the Warriors?

When will Adou Thiero be back?
