Yang Hansen's rookie year with Portland was a redshirt season in everything but name. The 7-1 center out of Zibo appeared in 43 games but averaged only 7.0 minutes, finishing with 2.2 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. His shooting numbers were rough across the board: 31.0 percent from the field, 11.9 percent from three, 82.4 percent at the line, and a 41.3 true shooting mark. His plus-minus sat at minus-2.3, and a 19.6 usage rate showed the ball found him more than playing time did.

On October 13 he logged 12.0 minutes with 4 points and 6 rebounds in a win over Sacramento, and on October 7 he put up 6 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists in 12.0 minutes in a win over Golden State.
